School Threat Arrest, April 25

A 16 year old male student has been arrested for writing a school threat in a bathroom at South Umpqua High School. This is the second written threat discovered at the school in the last week. On Monday, April 23, 2018, school officials learned of a threat written on a wall in a boy’s bathroom. Deputies were contacted and conducted an investigation. That investigation lead to the arrest of the male juvenile who has been charged with First Degree Disorderly Conduct, a Class A Misdemeanor. The Sheriff’s Office encourages parents to have discussions with their children regarding the seriousness of these offenses and the consequences for committing these crimes. A misdemeanor crime is punishable by up to 1 year in jail.
